You may have noticed over recent years the numbers of Crossover/SUV style vehicles on UK roads has exploded, in fact they account for just over half of all new car sales in the UK now.

All models get a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and Ford’s large 12-inch touchscreen with integrated Navigation and if you prefer, phone mirroring is available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available on all models.
Plenty of driver tech is including starting with entry-level models that include rear parking camera and sensor, automatic emergency braking, lane departure alert and assist and a driver alertness assistant as you move up to the higher-grade models, you’ll extra tech like a 360-camera system.
The Titanium trim is the only model without sports suspension and for some this might be a positive as you’ll trade a little bit of comfort for the lower/firmer suspension of the other models, obviously the sports suspension offers improved cornering/handling.
The St-Line and ST-Line X add some sporty options/aesthetics, and sports tuned suspension, the main difference between these two models is some additional exterior upgrades and interior enhancements. The ST-Line has 17-inch allow wheels while the ‘X’ model upgrades them to 18-inch. Inside the ST-Line has cloth upholstery while the X model upgrades with part synthetic leather seats. The audio system in the X model is also upgraded to a premium B&O system and it adds other little extras like privacy glass and a wireless phone charger.
The ST model offers true sports performance, with sport styling, Tuned suspension and a more powerful 170PS mild hybrid engine (0-60mph in approx. 7.4 seconds).

The Nissan Juke boasts funky/eye-catching looks, sometimes described as quirky looking, it arguably offers a more rugged look than the Ford Puma, across the range you'll get great levels of standard equipment and low running costs.
There is a choice of 1.0-litre DIG-T (114bhp) petrol engine which offers a good blend of efficiency and performance, and there is is 1.6-litre self-charging hybrid engine (143bhp). The hybrid offers a more responsive driving experience and will potentially be more economical especially for lots of urban/low speed driving where you’ll be running in electric mode more, it is our engine pick if you can afford the additional initial cost.
All models have been given a considerable interior makeover, with upgraded materials (like Alcantara across the dashboard) and 12-3 large widescreen touchscreen. The touch screen feels and looks impressive and if you prefer your phone’s screen and apps, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is available.
All models get plenty of driver assistance tech as standard such automatic emergency braking with a reversing camera, pedestrian/cyclist detection, lane keeping assist, cruise control and auto high beam assist. The higher-end models add Nissan’s semi-autonomous driving assistant ‘ProPIlot’ that offers features like lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.

The latest Ford Kuga offers a long list of upgrades and improvements over the outgoing model. There are some performance upgrades in the new range of engines, a petrol powertrain, self-charging hybrid and plug-in hybrid. The plug-in is the best company car option with an estimated full electric range of 40+ miles. Both the self-charging and plug-in hybrids are responsive too, 0-60mph in just over 8 seconds for the self-charging and a tad over 7 seconds for the plug-in.
Inside the new Kuga gets digital driver displays on all models, a huge 13.2-inch infotainment screen (a big upgrade over the older model’s 8-inch screen). The infotainment system is powered by Ford’s latest SYNC 4 system with integrated navigation. If you prefer your phones sat nav Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available.
All Ford Kuga models are well-equipped, the entry-level Titanium trim comes with 17-alloys, privacy glass, keyless entry/engine start. Safety tech includes front/rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane keep assist.
The caveat with the Titanium trim is you only get the petrol engine option, so if you are looking for a self-charging or plug-in hybrid look at the higher-grade models.
The ST-Line and ST-Line X are the sportier options with sports styling and sports tuned suspension. You get features like unique ST-Line styling, synthetic leather front sports seats and a top-notch B&O audio system.
The ST-Line X offers a few additional goodies, one notable option is the 4-wheel drive self-charging powertrain, inside there's an electronically operated panoramic sunroof and for additional comfort heated seats and steering wheel.
Sandwiched in-between the ST-Line and ST-Line X models is the Active model which offers some more rugged styling options and the 4-wheel drive powertrain. Specs-wise it is very similar to the ST-Line model.

The Qashqai is Nissan’s mid-sized SUV, the latest model offers an updated exterior with a bolder look including a new grille inspired by Samurai Armour, offset with sleeker headlights, there’s also a contrast black roof on higher-grade models which looks smart.
It is jam-packed with standard features, inside, in keeping with rival models there’s a large 12.3-inch infotainment screen matched with a 12.3-inch digital driver display (on most models). Unlike some rivals who seem to be moving some dials and controls to the touchscreen for a cleaner dashboard, Nissan have resisted and there are still physical buttons/dials for climate control and audio (the steering wheel also keeps buttons for audio/radio. The N-Design model gets two-tone paint with contrast colour roof, Alcantara interior fully customisable interior ambient lighting, the Tekna models add a Head-up display, heated seats, and handsfree tailgate, the Tekna+ adds a premium Bose audio system.
Engines-wise, there are two mild hybrid petrol engines (138 and 156bhp) and Nissan’s unique e-Power hybrid engine. The e-Power system uses the petrol combustion engine as a dedicated charger for the electric battery and delivers a full electric like driving experience and potentially over 50mpg.

The Sportage is Kia’s spacious medium-sized SUV. The 2025 model has grown a little, it's a tad wider and more aggressive with a new rear bumper where the more prominent changes are, at the front the changes are more subtle.
Inside the Sportage feels extremely spacious, there’s a 12.3-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch driver display available on higher-grade models, it is not unusual now to see a large touchscreen like this, the difference with the Sportage is the two 12-3-inch screens sit almost side by side and are curved for optimum viewing, they also look cool!
The infotainment system gets smartphone mirroring capabilities with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Standard driver assistance features include front and rear parking sensors. A rear camera, cruise control, lane keeping tech and automatic headlights/wipers.
