Despite a dip in July, in 2025 the UK is on course to see the largest number of new car registrations since 2019, with the first half of the year seeing over one million vehicles sold.
According to the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders), the market saw a 5% dip in July registrations to 140,154 units, the lowest July since 2022, despite this the first half of 2025 has been very promising.
Full Electric and Plug-in Hybrid sales continue to grow, despite this petrol cars are still the biggest seller.
SUVs and Crossovers are proving extremely popular filling 8 of the top 10 best-selling slots, with many manufacturers having at least three models in the segments to offer, usually a compact, medium and large-sized SUV.
