Renault 5 E-Tech Electric Crowned UK Car of the Year 2026
The new Renault 5 E-Tech has claimed the prestigious overall UK Car of the Year 2026 award, crowning an already impressive performance having already bagged the Small Car of the Year award.
The awards are based on votes from an independent panel of more than 30 leading UK automotive journalists. The award recognises the Renault 5 E-Tech as the most impressive new car currently on sale in Britain, praising it for combining nostalgic charm with engaging driving dynamics.
The award comes as the industry continues its shift towards electrification. Judges highlighted the Renault 5 E-Tech’s ability to combine eye-catching, retro-inspired design with real-world practicality, efficient performance and a chassis that delivers both agility and comfort.
The car has already proved popular with private buyers and fleet operators, thanks to its sensible pricing and generous levels of standard equipment.
